Elementary School Teacher

Universal American School is currently looking to hire exceptional, passionate and suitably-qualified educators to join its Elementary school team in January 2022.

This position reports to the Elementary School Principal.

The School

Universal American School is a PreK-12 US curriculum and IB World® school offering the IBPYP in the Elementary, a tailored inquiry based programme in the middle school following the AERO and NGSS as standards, and a choice of the IBDP, AP/AP Capstone or US High School Diploma pathways at the high school level. Universal American School is accredited by the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS), the International Baccalaureate (IB) and operates under the local regulator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The school was rated “Very Good” in its latest inspection by the KHDA in 2018/2019.

Universal American School is run on a not-for-profit basis and is part of the Al Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF). Founded in 2005, the school has delivered an inclusive, diverse and academically sound programme to thousands of students year on year. Our alumni have gone on to study at leading institutions of higher education in the US, Canada, the UK the UAE and other parts of the world.

The Role:

Universal American School is looking for educators who can:

1. Enthuse, excite and pique curiosity whilst maintaining rigour and academic focus
2. Challenge students, each at a level appropriate to their ability, whilst maintaining high expectations of all at all times
3. Deliver outstanding lessons by ensuring, day in and day out, that ALL students are making rapid and sustained progress
4. Collect data and use it meaningfully to inform their planning and instruction
5. Use technology meaningfully and transformatively (ideally in an iOS environment)
6. Be part of an exciting journey towards uncompromising excellence.

In addition to the above, the successful applicant will be required to have the following:

• A BEd or a bachelor degree with a recognised Teaching License/ post-graduate teaching qualification

• IB-approved PYP training (desired), or an interest in/knowledge of inquiry-based instruction

• Relevant classroom experience of 3 years or more (applicants who do not meet this requirement might still be considered depending on the strength of their application)

• Cultural savviness/sensitivity and the willingness to work in a fast-paced and high expectations environment

• A growth mindset, resilience and an unwavering commitment to personal growth
